Interview with Sarah Jayne Carey and Lorcan Tuohy

Roisin and Amy interviewed Sarah Jayne Carey, a computer science teacher in Colaiste Bride in Clondalkin, and Lorcan. a sixth year student from Borrisokane Community College. Sarah Jayne and Lorcan were part of a panel discussion on the 21st Century Classroom today at Feilte.

They spoke about the role of technology in the classroom from both a student and teacher perspective.   Lorcan then spoke about the distinction between being a digital native and digitally literate.  Sarah Jayne spoke about teaching adults and teenagers  and the difference in their digital skills.

Interview with Eugene Wall, President of Mary Immaculate College

The Youth Media Team interviewed Eugene Wall, President of Mary Immaculate College at #FEILTE.

Eugene spoke to us about the importance of Mary Immaculate College hosting #FEILTE this year. He also spoke to us about his thoughts on the conference and his favourite part over the two days. Finally he told us about his favourite memory from being a student, educator and President of Mary Immaculate College.

Interviews with some of the showcases at Feilte

Denis and Roisin interviewed Kate from Make, Create, Innovate today at Feilte. She spoke about what she is showcasing today at Feilte and the importance of teachers coming together to share ideas.

Denis and Roisin interviewed Leona Forde, a teacher from  Kinsale Community School. She spoke about their new collaborative projects in the school for teachers.

Cara and Roisin interviewed Marese Murphy a teacher showcasing about how she incorporates STEM into the classroom from a young age.

Interview with Lynn Ruane

Lynn Ruane  is a Senator  for the University of Dublin constituency in Seanad Éireann. She is an activist and campaigner on issues of justice and equality.

In our interview she talks about the need for belonging regardless of  the stage of education the person is at and how school and colleges can support this need.

Lynn talked to us about her experience with the education system and what prompted her to return to education. She also spoke openly about the barriers she encountered in education and how she persevered none the less and who inspired her.

Lynn talked about the the importance of young people having a role model they can relate to and also how important it is to have events like Féilte. We also asked her about the impact she hopes to make as senator.

Interview with Aoibheann Mangan

Amy and Roisin interviewed Aoibheann Mangan who recently won EU Digital Girl of the Year. Aoibheann spoke about how significant Coderdojo has been for her and who her role models are. She also mentioned what she plans to do next.

Denis and Anna interviewed  Nuala McHale from the Coderdojo foundation . She spoke to us about the Coderdojo initiative for girls and her advice for them starting out coding. We also talked to her about why she was at Megadojo and how she found the event.

Interview with Marty Morissey

Amy and Cara interviewed Marty Morrissey at the Bank Of Ireland Nenagh Enterprise Town Event. He gave us his thoughts on the change n format to the Hurling and Football Championships. He also spoke about moving the All Ireland Hurling Final and how he’s not sure that the move is a good one. One reason he gave is that in September the schools are open and so there will be a lack of colour that is known to be seen around this time when the final is in august. He also spoke about how he is involved in the Enterprise Scheme with Bank Of Ireland.

Interview with Sean Kelly MEP

Amy and Roisin interviewed Sean Kelly MEP today at #Megadojo in LIT Limerick.  Sean spoke about why he keeps coming back to MegaDojo and why CoderDojo highlighting the work of young people is so important. He also spoke about getting students involved in his line of work and Foroige’s work which was recently recognised with an EU Citizens Prize.

It was great to catch up with Sean after being recently invited by Sean to the European Parliament.

Interview with Liam Browne

Cara and Anna interviewed Liam Browne at #MegaDojo 2017. Liam is the Vice-President for Research, Enterprise and Development in LIT. He talked about LIT and their work . He also talked about his department and he gave pointers on how to get through college and his experience in LIT.
