Interview with Tony Riley

Roisin and Amy interviewed Tony Riley. Tony is an art teacher who is originally from New Zealand but is now working in Ireland. Tony spoke about his involvement in STEAM. He explained that STEAM derived from STEM but because of his great interest in art he developed a #steamroom in Lacken National School. The School is here today showcasing as a Digital School of Distinction.

Chris and Dave interviewed Ben and Oisin with MediBands. They created a silicone band that takes you to a website with the wearers medical history, allergies etc. when a photo is taken of it. it shws how something as small as a band could potentially save lives.

Chris interviewed the co-Founder of the Rapid Foundation, Colin Keogh. Rapid Foundation go to developing countries and introduce people there to technology. The believe that everyone should have access t technology. At the Excited Digital Learning Festival today they were demo’ing a 3D printer.

Amy and Emma’s interview with Julia Skinner

Amy and Emma interviewed Julia Skinner. She set up the 100 Word Challenge.  She is in Ireland setting up the #100WCEmeraldTour.  She is an ex head teacher. She talked about her favourite story and how the 100 word challenge has grown.  She strongly believes that it is important that children know the tools of writing.  She also stressed that peer comments are more powerful than the teacher telling children what to do.
