Mags and Jack interviewed Keith Quille during the “Ideas in Education” conference on the LIT-Thurles campus..

Keith Quille is a lecturer at IT Tallaght ( TU-D). He has been training teachers who are interested in teaching the new leaving cert computer science course. Keith told us how popular current computer science camps are with both students and teachers. He also gave us good news on the gender bias front in that the number of girls signing up for these camps is equal to or greater than boys.

Cara and Denis interviewed Amanda Joilliffe at ICTEDU. She talked about her career to date. She also spoke about what a school visiting the DreamSpace would do on a typical day. Finally she shared what technologies present and future she is most excited about.

Amy and Jack interviewed Keynote Speaker Julian Wood from the UK at ICTEDU. He told us about himself and being the Deputy Head of two schools. He then went on to tell us why he decided to share his ideas about teaching through the means of his Twitter account.  Finally he shared why it’s so important to teach through technology at a young age to prepare them for future technologies.

As John has recently returned from working as an Education Technologist in the USA,  we asked him to compare and contrast integration of technology in the classrooms of the USA with those in Ireland. Mags and Cara interviewed Pam O’Brien at ICTEDU. As the organiser of the event she told us about the event and why it’s important to bring first, second and third level education together at events. She discussed her roles as a Lecturer, Mentor and Organiser. Lastly she talked the Maker meet that was held last night and how it brought together people of all ages to learn together through technology.
